Getting To Know The Aussiedoodle: FAQs

Aussiedoodles are considered a designer breed that is the result of breeding a poodle and an Australian Shepherd. These dogs are perfectly lovable with their luxurious coats and sweet faces, but you may have questions before bringing an Aussiedoodle puppy home.

Are Aussiedoodles good dogs for a family environment?

Aussiedoodles are considered to be good family dogs. These canines tend to be good with children and can get along well with other pets. Just make sure the puppy gets ample socialization when it is young. If you are buying an Aussiedoodle from a breeder, make sure to introduce the dog to your children before taking it home to make sure it is comfortable around them.

Do Aussiedoodles need a lot of exercise?

Even though poodles are not necessarily dogs that need a lot of room to run, Aussiedoodles do tend to need more exercise than a lot of other breeds. Aussiedoodles are part of the herding group, so they have a lot of pent-up energy to burn and do need some time outdoors or ample room to run and play. The Aussiedoodle may not need quite as much exercise as a full, standard-breed Australian Shepherd, but they do need regular walks and plenty of playtime. Otherwise, you can run into issues with boredom that can make the dog harder to contain.

Do Aussiedoodles shed a lot?

Poodles are not major shedders, but Aussiedoodles do shed quite a bit during certain times of the year, so the Aussiedoodle can have a fair amount of shedding. To deter problems in the house, simply keep the dog well-groomed and do some brushing several times a week.

How do you find a mini Aussiedoodle puppy for sale?

Mini Aussiedoodles are the result of breeding a mini Australian Shepherd and a toy-sized poodle. Specific breeders tend to specialize in these smaller dogs, so make sure you are working with a breeder that has a good track record and can show the lineage of the puppies with the proper paperwork.

Is the Aussiedoodle a noisy dog that barks a lot?

Aussiedoodles can be highly attentive to noises and out-of-order occurrences. Poodles have a breed history as a hunting dog, and as already mentioned, Aussiedoodles are part of the herding group. This breed history can mean an Aussiedoodle will do a little more barking than some other breeds. However, this is not a trait that can't be controlled with proper training.
